Other cleaning workers who have 30 years of experience in their job, will earn between Ksh26,256 and Ksh65,207 per month. Employees who have 30 years of work experience, earn between Ksh135 and Ksh335 per hour. This is the conclusion of research carried out by Mywage.org/Kenya, in 2023.
Workers with 20 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between Ksh31,538 and Ksh79,567 per month. Workers in this occupation get an hourly wage that ranges from Ksh135 to Ksh335 after working for 30 years.
Other cleaning workers mostly male
Most employees are male, based on the survey results.
Coverage by collective bargaining amongst workers is 8%, while 92% are not covered by a collective agreement, according to our survey. On average, workers work 43 hours per week.
Coworkers mostly female
The majority of workers in this occupation work in organisations of 500 or more employees. People in this job who do not have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, added up to 44% of respondents. In most cases, people in this job report that the majority of their coworkers are female. Of the participating people in this job, 24% work in a multinational organisation. Since starting their first job, 59% of workers in this occupation have worked fewer than 5 years. Workers who have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, add up to 56%.
