O Αλέν Μπερσέ είναι Ελβετός πολιτικός του Σοσιαλδημοκρατικού Κόμματος. Από την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2012 έως τις 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2023 ήταν μέλος του Ελβετικού Ομοσπονδιακού Συμβουλίου, του επταμελούς κυβερνητικού συμβουλίου της χώρας και επικεφαλής του Ομοσπονδιακού υπουργείου Εσωτερικών. Την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2023 ανέλαβε τα καθήκοντά του ως Πρόεδρος της Ελβετικής Συνομοσπονδίας, επικεφαλής του Ομοσπονδιακού Συμβουλίου, ενώ ήταν ξανά πρόεδρος το 2018 σε ηλικία 45 ετών. Έγινε ο νεότερος πρόεδρος της Συνομοσπονδίας από τον Μαρσέλ Πιλέ-Γκολάζ το 1934. Πριν την εκλογή του ως μέλους του Ομοσπονδιακού Συμβουλίου τον Δεκέμβριο του 2011, ήταν μέλος του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου εκπροσωπώντας το καντόνι του Φράιμπουργκ από το 2003, υπηρετώντας ως πρόεδρος της βουλής την περίοδο 2008-2009.
