Most bookmakers, croupiers and related gaming workers not satisfied with job

17 Feb 2024 - Bookmakers, croupiers and related gaming workers who work for 30 years will receive a salary ranging from K4,032 to K14,692 per month. Veteran workers, working for at least 30 years, receive between K19 and K71 per hour. This is the conclusion of research carried out by Mywage.org/Zambia, in 2024.

Based on our survey, workers with 25 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between K3,993 and K16,182 per month. Veteran workers with 30 years worth of experience can earn an hourly wage between K19 and K71 per hour.

Bookmakers, croupiers and related gaming workers mostly female

Of the workers in this occupation who participated in the survey, 27% have no children. Employees who answered the survey are mostly between 24 and 29 years of age. Of the respondents, 59% are female and 41% are male.

On average, workers in this occupation work 43 hours per week. According to our survey, coverage by collective bargaining among workers in this occupation is set at 8%. 92% are not covered by a collective agreement.

Majority organisations employ 500 or more workers

Workers in this occupation who do not have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, added up to 60% of respondents. 33% of all participating workers in this occupation work in a multinational organisation. For most employees, the majority of their coworkers are female. People in this job mostly work in organisations consisting of 500 or more people. Workers who have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, add up to 40%. Since starting their first job, 67% of workers have worked fewer than 5 years.

The survey shows that 6% of the workers in this occupation feel highly satisfied about their position. On the whole, workers feel in between satisfied and dissatisfied about their job. This feeling is shared by 42% of the workers.

Wage dissatisfaction high among bookmakers, croupiers and related gaming workers

Of all surveyed employees, 39% feel dissatisfied about their salary. Generally, 40% of the employees report they are highly dissatisfied with their salary.
