With 10 years of work experience, traditional chiefs and heads of village will earn from K19,838 to K150,416 monthly. 37% of workers state that they do not have any children. This is made clear in research by Mywage.org/Zambia, conducted in 2023.
Highest salary for traditional chiefs and heads of village with 30 years of experience: K7,064 to K279,458 per month
Based on our survey, workers with 30 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between K7,064 and K279,458 per month. Workers starting out on the job, with 1 year of experience, can expect to earn between K43 and K330 per hour.
Traditional chiefs and heads of village mostly male
Among the workers who share information on their wages and working conditions, most are male. The age group for workers who answered the survey was mostly between 24 and 29 years of age. Of the workers who participated in the survey, 37% have no children.
Average working week of 41 hours
On average, workers work 41 hours per week. Coverage by collective bargaining amongst workers is 6%, while 94% are not covered by a collective agreement, according to our survey.
Coworkers mostly male
Since starting their first job, 38% of workers have worked 10-20 years. 75% of people in this job state that they have a permanent contract for the work that they are doing. Of the participating workers, 50% work in a multinational organisation. 25% of people in this job state that they have no permanent contract for their job. Workers in this occupation mostly work in organisations consisting of 500 or more people. For most workers, the majority of their coworkers are male.
The survey shows that 11% of the workers feel highly dissatisfied about their position. On the whole, workers feel in between satisfied and dissatisfied about their job. This feeling is shared by 39% of the workers.
Wage dissatisfaction high among traditional chiefs and heads of village
Among the employees, 27% reported they are in between satisfied and dissatisfied with their wage. 37% of the workers in this occupation reports to be dissatisfied with their wage.
