After 30 years of work experience, primary school teachers earn a monthly wage that ranges from K4,510 to K39,961. Generally, 49% of the workers report they are dissatisfied with their salary. This research is presented by Mywage.org/Zambia on the occasion of World Teachers' Day.
Inexperienced primary school teachers earn hourly wage between K27 and K84
Based on our survey, workers in this occupation with 25 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between K5,645 and K40,072 per month. Workers in this occupation earn between K27 and K84 per hour at the start of the career, having 1 year of work experience.
Primary school teachers mostly male
60% says they are male, while 40% entered female as their gender. The age group for workers who answered the survey was mostly between 24 and 29 years of age. 60% of workers have 1 child or more.
Average working week of 40 hours
People in this job work 40 hours per week on average. According to our survey, coverage by collective bargaining among employees is set at 10%. 90% are not covered by a collective agreement.
Coworkers mostly female
56% of people in this job have worked fewer than 5 years since their first job. In most cases, people in this job report that the majority of their coworkers are female.
