Most civil engineering technicians not satisfied with job

24 Mar 2024 - Civil engineering technicians who work for 20 years will receive a salary ranging from USh742,338 to USh7,277,331 per month. 44% of workers state that they do not have any children. This is made clear in research by Mywage.org/Uganda, conducted in 2024.

Salary for starting civil engineering technicians between USh836,043 and USh1,679,821 per month

Based on our survey, workers in this occupation with 30 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between USh692,082 and USh82,457,920 per month. Based on one year of work experience, starting workers who are new to their job will earn between USh836,043 and USh1,679,821 per month.

Civil engineering technicians mostly male

22% of the respondents are female, 78% are male. Of the workers in this occupation who participated in the survey, 44% have no children. The age group for workers in this occupation who answered the survey was mostly between 24 and 29 years of age.

Coverage by collective bargaining amongst workers in this occupation is 6%, while 94% are not covered by a collective agreement, according to our survey. On average, workers in this occupation work 44 hours per week.

35% of civil engineering technicians fewer than 5 years of work experience

35% of workers in this occupation have worked fewer than 5 years since their first job. Workers who have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, add up to 20%. For most employees, the majority of their coworkers are male. Of the participating workers in this occupation, 22% work in a multinational organisation. Employees mostly work in organisations consisting of 500 or more people. 80% of employees state that they have no permanent contract for their job.

The survey shows that 7% of the employees feel highly dissatisfied about their position. In general, most workers in this occupation are satisfied with their position. This is the case for 36% of the workers in this occupation.

Of all surveyed workers in this occupation, 26% feel dissatisfied about their salary. 28% of the people in this job reports to be highly dissatisfied with their wage.
