Yes, each of the public holidays listed in Botswana shall be a paid public holiday.

What happens if a public holiday falls on a day of rest?

Where a paid public holiday falls on a rest day (for example, a Sunday),  the day following the rest day shall be a paid public holiday.

Do you get paid the same or more on a public holiday in Botswana?

Any employee who works on a paid public holiday shall be paid at least double the wages he or she would have been paid had the day been an ordinary working day; or be granted a paid day off within 10 days immediately thereafter.

Must my employer follow these laws?

Yes, any employer who contravenes this section shall be guilty of an offence and liable to penalties.
