Collective bargaining coverage limited among debt-collectors

20 Apr 2024 - 30 years of work experience reaps debt-collectors a salary ranging from €1,569 to €2,749 per month. This is made clear in research by Mywage.org/Malta, conducted in 2024.

Workers in this occupation with 20 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between €1,536 and €2,806 per month. Veteran employees with 30 years worth of experience can earn an hourly wage between €9 and €16 per hour.

Debt-collectors mostly female

Of the respondents, 56% are female and 44% are male. The age group for workers who answered the survey was mostly between 20 and 24 years of age.

Average working week of 40 hours

According to our survey, coverage by collective bargaining among employees is set at 3%. 97% are not covered by a collective agreement. Workers work 40 hours per week on average.

50% of debt-collectors fewer than 5 years of work experience

Employees who do not have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, added up to 31% of respondents. The majority of employees work in organisations of 500 or more employees. Of the participating workers, 39% work in a multinational organisation. Since starting their first job, 50% of workers have worked fewer than 5 years. People in this job who have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, add up to 69%. For most people in this job, the majority of their coworkers are female.

Of all surveyed employees, 26% feel dissatisfied about their salary. 39% of the workers reports to be in between satisfied and dissatisfied with their wage.
