This follows a unanimous agreement among employers, unions, and the government, outlining yearly increases until 2027. 4 December 2023 - On 1 December, Malta Housing Minister Roderick Galed released new renting rules, declaring that landlords will only be able to register six tenants who are not part of the same family in one unit. These changes were made to provide stability to the rental market and simplify any related legal processes. Fines up to €2,329 will be handed out by the Housing Authority to landlords who violate these rules and a refusal to remedy the situation could be brought to court and fined up to €10,000.
