Are you on a job hunt in Jamaica? Are you unsure where to find the perfect vacancies for you? We have sorted out a few tips on how to find a job in Jamaica.

• One of the easiest ways to make your job search public is to keep on talking about it. That means letting your social network know that you are searching for a job. Tell your friends, family and even acquaintances if the topic comes up. You might be in luck and they might be aware of an opening.
• Another way would be to visit job fairs in which you can connect with new people and meet recruiters face-to-face. Even if you don’t find a suitable job for you, you would have put yourself out there. 
• Research your favorite companies’ websites so see if they do have open positions. You might even find the contact information of the Human Resources team. Do get in touch with them and see where it goes.
• The most popular way in our digital world is to take a look at online job portals in Jamaica. A few known ones are CaribbeanJobs and CareerJamaica, but there are plenty more.
• Do not forget about the power of LinkedIn. You can connect with so many people from your field and might get interesting opportunities you wouldn’t have expected. Do post frequently there. Let your network know that you are “Open to work” by setting your profile as such. Do not be shy to reach out to recruiters yourself!

After having applied to the roles that seem appealing to you, remain patient. It might take a few days if not weeks for an employer to get back to you. If they do, then they will most probably set up an interview. For the interview, stay calm, look professional and be confident. Answer all their questions comfortably, and if you have any questions in return do inquire about them. Be enthusiastic and genuine in order to show your interest in the role. Most importantly, do not lie and be yourself. 

If they do not get back to you, do no give up! Keep on applying to different jobs until the right one finds you.
