Can anybody take the Salary Check?

Yes. The Salary Check is meant for people occupied in a wide range of industries, ranging from domestic work to gastroenterology. The Salary Check and salary comparison tool is intended to collect and distribute statistical information on all workers in a country's economy and is therefore accessible to everybody.

How many occupations are listed in the Salary Check?

Currently, WageIndicator allows for 4,000 professions in the Salary Check Survey. 

What can the Salary Check be used for?

The survey is useful if you want to find out your salary compared with others working in the same occupation in your country. The outcome could help you figure out whether your compensation is suitable, and can be used as a part of the justification for a pay raise. The survey is also helpful if you are looking for a new job, or are an employer as it provides easily comprehensible statistical information on minimum and maximum wages, and typical employee and company characteristics including collective agreements, company size, gender ratios, and promotions. 

How will my personal information be used?

The survey is voluntary, web-based, and completely anonymous. No contact details such as name, phone number, or email address are required. The survey is simply a tool to provide people with an approximate idea of their occupation’s salary benchmarking along with associated job and wage satisfaction levels. The reason personal characteristics such as gender, education, experience, and position is important is because these are all factors that contribute significantly to the amount of wage earned.

How long will the survey take?

The survey is short, consisting of about 20 multiple-choice questions, and thus will only take 5-10 minutes to complete.

How accurate is the Salary Check?

Due to the statistical methods in accordance with the ISCO system used to calculate the outcome and its accuracy, the reliability of the Salary Check is in line with that of other national surveys. The outcome is assured to be current as it is published on a twice yearly basis, with the cleansing of datasets before each publish. It also takes into account overtime hours, recent wage rates, and may adjust for inflation in exceptional cases when needed. However, there are a few limitations which do not guarantee 100% accuracy. Since the Salary Check is voluntary and conducted through the internet, it may not gather a representative sample of the labour force. In addition, false entries may corrupt the data. Thus, complete honesty and truth is requested to prevent tainted results.
