With a recent extension of lockdown in Sydney to 16 July 2021, according to the Daily Mail, small family enterprises fear going out of business, as this extension is now costing these businesses an estimated $1 billion a week. With the fear of losing their livelihoods and lack of financial assistance from the government, Australians, especially in Sydney, are getting frustrated, based on reports from the Daily Mail.

The hospitality industry in Australia employs approximately 7 percent of the country's workforce and includes various jobs, all of which have been heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Waiters also help chefs execute their role in the restaurant. A waiter in Australia with five years experience can earn AUD 5501. Another essential aspect of a restaurant and the hospitality industry are restaurant managers. Restaurant managers are responsible for recruiting, training and supervising staff, managing budgets, ordering supplies and more. With five years experience, a restaurant manager in Australia can earn AUD 4765. Other employees in the hospitality industry include dishwashers who can earn  AUD 4039 with five years experience and baristas who can make AUD 5190 with five years experience.

The latest figures of the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that the hospitality industry (accommodation and food services) are still the most impacted by payroll job losses over the Covid-19 pandemic.
